Review: The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
She was spot on when she told me I would probably like it, and *I* was spot on when I told her I’d develop a muse for a certain character. But honestly, it was more than that that made me love this book.
Understanding that there is more tha one book out there that deals with fictional characters coming to life and existing in our real world, this was a very solid take in that vein. Every character served a purpose (except maybe Harold, cause he just pissed me off, immensely) in the story.
Ellery Finch is my favorite character as he embodies the spirit of a true fanboy/fangirl. I related to him in a way that is kind of hard to explain. And I understood him, too.
Alice Crewe was also a solid character and well rounded, and the situation she finds herself in lent itself well to her development. I look forward to reading the companion book that is to be released, and any other future novels from Melissa Albert. She has made me a fan!
It’s really cool when you can adopt a character into your being…It’s like you are almost a twin….
@jaythesmartone Yeah, definitely!
