hey, that’s my bike

shuffling through my iTunes library right now i’m on "How Does it Make You Feel?" from AIr’s (unfairly maligned IMO) 3rd  album, 10,000 Hz Legend. I love revisiting music i haven’t heard or even thought about in years; of course a lot of it has aged terribly, but going back and listening to Nevermind, Siamese Dream, Melon Collie, Weezer’s Blue Album, etc. always has a unique effect of me that I like very much: nostalgia mixed with the freshness of rediscovery…

Now it’s Antony & the Johnson’s "Hope There’s Someone", which is definitely my favorite song of his. Besides being a gifted and emotive songwriter, his uncannily beautiful singing voice is truly remarkable. Though a few detractors may dislike his occasional vibrato, Antony Hegarty is certainly one of the most talented solo artists doing underground music right now. Admittedly, I don’t listen to his music that often because it’s sombre and a little taxing, emotionally.

i have reservations about Chelsea from AA based upon what i admit are shallow (1) something completely trivial and (2) a superficial. she put the following quote on her FB page:

I LOVE that movie; Charlie Kaufman’s script combined with Michel Gondry’s direction and Jon Brion’s score; not to mention amazing performances from Kate Winslet and (who knew?) Jim Carrey. But I can only associate that quote with pretentious and narcissistic art majors with unjustified levels of self-regard.
