More than a note of truth! But with all the benefits of utopian socialist Norwegian society, does the siren call of the capitalistic US still beckon? Having gone to Norway last year in search for “my roots” I was mesmerized by the beauty of the country – but taken aback by the prices and the 25% VAT. YIKES! Also was impressed by the lovely big houses in Oslo and Bergen, however noted that most Norwegians don’t live in these houses, but rather in smallish, spartan flats. I went over thinking that my ancestors had made a big mistake in coming to Canada in 1872, but now realize that if they had stayed we never would have the property that we now have. In Norway there was no chance they could have owned land, but we now have the original homestead, 400 acres of unspoiled forest on a small lake 3 hours drive north of Toronto. I used to think that they must have regretted leaving such a fantastic country, but now I think they probably felt very lucky.
HA!

Thanks for your note. I will just stay here in the bible belt and cast jealous glances in Norway’s direction.
