NoJoMo 4: Rainbows Too?

I need to stop starting these entries so late because what happens is I am getting tired and I sit down to write something and all I can think about is what I did today which basically involves pool stories which are probably getting tedious already and I don’t really have anything to say about today anyway.

Other than this.  A few years ago, when I first became the pool guy, I had a group of kids from a different school come in, like they still do.  At that time I used to like to tell them when they asked what my name was that I was named Brunost.   That is pronounced Broon-oast (sorta) which means brown cheese.  You can read all about it on Wikipedia.  It is quite good cheese actually, though it is unlike cheese as even I knew it before coming here.  It is rather sweet and is terrific on crackers.  I eat some almost every day for breakfast.  Anyway, that has become my stock joke answer for pretty much everything.

So today, those kids show up again for the first time in a couple years and they were all calling me Brunost the whole time.  Last year, when I got a group of kids I hadn’t seen in a few years they saw me coming to open the door to the hall and started chanting, "BRUNOST!! BRUNOST!!"  Needless to say, their teacher was confused.

Nothing much else.  I rode the exercise bike today while watching Modern Family season 1.  Fantastic show.  The old guy (Al Bundy!) who is married to the young hispanic woman is standing there and she says, "I am going to take a shower would you like to join me?"  He stands there for a minute and says, "Maria, there is a shotgun in the garage.  If I ever answer no to that question, I want you to use it on me."  Funny cuz it’s true!  I believe I have said something similar.   That show is fantastic.

I got nothing else.

Videos!

Been listening to the Legendary Pink Dots lately.  They are a criminally underappreciated band.  This song is a bit long and I love it and them because they have that psychedelic, Pink Floyd-ish thing going.  Dreamy.

Psychedelic in a different way is The Black Angels, who I have Shazar to thank for introducing me to as he had them on a mix CD in his car when he was with us in Iowa last year.  This is a great song with a fan made video with clips from No Country for Old Men, a fantastic film.

Not really psychedelic but it brings it to mind is Mogwai.  Mostly instrumental, they are considered post-rock.  Dreamy, and have that build thing that I love in songs.  This song is dedicated to late diarist ComeOnDieYoung, who took his name from a Mogwai album.
