NoJoMo 17: Sex and Candy

Wednesday is my busiest day.  My first three hours are with a school that comes in to our pool.  They have now hired me on as the teacher so I am kind of in charge.  For the seventh graders that is easy, particularly because I am not in charge of the two who can’t swim but the ones who already can.

For the third graders I am in the water with them.  We have two groups, half an hour each, one of which can swim mostly and the other who can’t.  The ones who can swim are easy enough.  I swim with them and correct little things and tell and show them how to improve.  The ones who can’t swim are more difficult.  At this point we have at least gotten them past water fright and they can float.  Now it is working on kicking which can be frustrating.  Some of them aren’t coordinated enough to really get it, or at least to make their legs do what their brain wants them to.  And of course we have one kid who needs physical therapy because I am surprised he walks ok considering how he can’t seem to do anything with his legs.  He already gets a lot of help on the mental side but he needs some physical as well.

Anyway, after that three hours I need to shower since I am covered with chlorine water.  I then have about 15 minutes to eat/dress because I have a 15 minute tour outside at the lunch recess.  My next swim class usually shows up a few minutes early so they are there when I am done with recess.  And the class after that is on the way in when that other class is done so no break there either.

I then usually have a half an hour after that before the after school daycare comes for some free swimming.  But today half the staff was sick or something so they cancelled swimming and I needed to get up to the other building to work at the daycare until my day normally ends.  Hectic today.

And getting late so I am going to move from that straight to…

Videos!

Hmmmm…late nineties by now I guess.  Hey, I met my wife then!  One song that sticks out here would be one of the reasons we started talking to each other at all, and that is that I mentioned I liked the Cocteau Twins, as did she, and there are far too few of us.  We now have two copies of this CD since both of us had it.  My favorite of theirs probably.

That first summer that I was here there were a few songs on the local cool radio station here.  We spent the summer playing games and listening to music and getting to know each other.  These next two songs aren’t actually my favorite songs, but they really bring back that first summer here.

That’s a pretty cools song actually.  The next one isn’t usually my kind of thing but I kinda like this song.  And wow, was this on a lot that summer.

Screw it, that’s a damn good song.  I wonder whatever happened to them cuz that’s the only thing I ever heard.

Anyway, that’s Wednesday.
