Endoscopy

Yesterday, I had a miserable experience.  I had to get an endoscopy.  For those of you who have never had one before, it’s not pleasant.  I went in and was prepped with an IV and put into the bed I would "recover" in afterward.  I waited for about two hours before I even went in for the procedure.  The nurse told me to "open up" and sprayed a nongagging/numbing formula down my throat.  She didn’t explain anything she was doing and was very abrasive.  I’m glad I read about the procedure online before I went in.  While I was lying there, the doctor got the medication together to inject into my IV (which there was no bag for — it was just a main entrance to my vein for the doctor).  He gave me twice the dose of versed that he gives people, partly because I was really scared but partly because it wasn’t kicking in as fast as he would have liked it to.  Then, comes the miserable part.  The doctor put the camera down my throat.  Now, I know they say that you’ll be "drunk" and you won’t even notice — not true, I NOTICED.  Even while on the medicine, I could feel and understand everything.  Then, the doctor put another tube down my throat, this one bigger than the camera, and stretched out my esophagus while he was in there.  It was horrible.  I was very happy when it was done.  The doctor said that everything looked normal.  So, that leaves me with the question, what is wrong?  I’ve never had acid reflux before.  There is definitely a problem somewhere.  You don’t just vomit bile for no reason.  I have an ultrasound of my abdomen tomorrow and I hope that shows the doctor something. 🙁  If it doesn’t, I don’t know what to think.
