Tuesday, 21/8/12.

Long day today. I had medication training, plus a re-do of manual handling and safeguarding since the last guy buggered it up so badly.

I’ve been getting the bus in to town for all the training days because it’s so much cheaper than parking for the day, and they’ve always been on time. Not today. I got to the bus stop a whole 45 minutes before I needed to be in town. The first bus comes along 10 minutes late and is full. Driver says sorry, next bus will be along in 10 minutes. It’s already 10am and I need to be at Caremark at 10:30am, which I figure I can just about do if the next bus does indeed arrive in 10 minutes. It doesn’t. It finally shows up at 10:20am, so I have to ring Kate and tell her I’m going to be late. I’m sure that made a really good impression. Luckily when I got there the girls were all having a cuppa and a chat and the trainer hadn’t turned up yet so no harm no foul but ugh, how annoying.

Manual handling training was so much better today. We actually got to practice with sitting to standing, slouching to sitting, bed to hoist, etc. Then we covered safeguarding for about an hour and just recapped everything, and after that was medication which was quite interesting. So all in all a long but productive day.

Then I went to catch the bus home, bearing in mind I had no idea what time it leaves the station as I’ve only ever caught it once since living here. I must’ve missed it by 30 seconds. FACE PALM. I mean how unlucky can you get? I was so annoyed. So I had to sit for half an hour (I didn’t realise but after 5pm they run every 30 minutes instead of 20) until I could get on a bus home. Ended up wishing I’d bloody driven.

Got home, did the usual, watched Great British Bake Off and am now having a cuppa before bed.
