I’ve missed four days, how’d that happen? Time to put my thinking cap on…

Sunday

Nic’s birthday. Nic with no K. Silly Americans.
We (as in, Thorpe’s whole family plus me) went to Oriental Palace for lunch and stuffed ourselves silly.
Then we headed back to Brenda’s and certain people (Alyssa, Nic’s annoying girlfriend) faffed about for an hour and then we finally went to Hunstanton at 3:30pm. Played crazy golf (I won, smug!) and bought some candy floss, then spent five minutes in the arcade and came away with two bloody moshi monster fluffy toy things. Typical.
Went back to Brenda’s and played the tat game – actually got some pretty decent stuff! A travel fan, an icepack compress thing in the shape of a frog which Thorpe will use after football, a pair of slippers to wear in the shower and a glowstick hat which Alfie swapped me two bars of Cadbury’s chocolate for! Win.
Got home for 9:30pm, watched Family Guy, bed.

Monday

I worked 1 – 4:45pm.
Nic and Alyssa came over because we’d made plans to go to London on Tuesday (we were going to do Thorpe Park but Alyssa decided her stomach wouldn’t be able to handle it and she desperately wanted to go to London – more on that later) so they stayed at ours Monday night. Alyssa had been going on and on about how she wanted to make sure Nic got to go out and have some drinks one night while they’re here so we said we’d do the Lattice Quiz and have some drinks there. Five minutes before we leave the house, Alyssa says she’s going to stay in because she doesn’t want to risk being ill for London. Pft, whatever, we went, Dave and Becky joined us, had far too many Jaegerbombs and consequently got quite drunk. Good night.

Tuesday

We’d booked the train and underground tickets the night before online and then once again, five minutes before the taxi turned up in the morning Alyssa announces she’s not going to go because she’s not feeling well. Fuck offf. She was fine – she’d spent 40 minutes in the shower and then decides to tell us she’s not coming as we’re ready to leave. Tickets had already been paid for and she was banging on the night before about how she wanted to spend the whole day in London seeing the sights and that an 8pm train home was too early. I was annoyed, but more annoyed for Nic. We went anyway, without Alyssa, and it was actually a really enjoyable day. We were pretty hungover but we had pizza hut for lunch in Covent Garden which perked me up and then walked around seeing all the main attractions. I took quite a few pictures, but won’t bore you with them. We came home on the 4:45pm train – no way would we have made it to 8pm, let alone later. We were knackered. Thorpe and I are going to go back in a couple of months and go to the Natural History and Science Museums.

When we dropped Nic back at Brenda’s (who has picked Alyssa up from ours) we found out Alyssa had spent the day watching TV on the couch and eating cake. Unwell my arse.

Wednesday

Yesterday I worked 9 – 2pm and then came home and pained the ‘good’ wall so I can now say officially that the walls are finished! Don’t get too excited though – the skirting boards and ceiling still need doing. Thorpe had football in the evening so I went out with Saz, Jake, Dave and Becky and played some snooker. We had the most torrential rain last night – it flooded the nearby roads and the thunder and lightning were right on top of us. The pub we went to was leaking all over the place, there must have been 10 buckets catching the drops. Thorpe, like a fool, stayed out in it for 15 minutes and got drenched through. His clothes are still sodden, hanging over the shower.

Today

I’m working the midnight shift with Lorraine tonight. I’m actually weirdly looking forward to it.
I peeled off the masking tape around the skirting boards yesterday and being the perfectionist that I am, I’m not happy with the way some of the blue doesn’t quite go all the way to the bottom (we’re talking millimetres) so I got a little paintbrush and touched up a few areas this morning. Mum and Roy came over for lunch and I took the carpet samples back to the shop. I’ve now got a half hour to relax and then off to work.
