Sunday, 19/8/12.
Oh my god. Today has been horrendous. The heat was ridiculous – I got up this morning and it took an hour and half just to get dressed because I was so clammy. Urrrggh.
James and I went to town because I wanted to look for some DS games and we wanted another set of purple curtains for our bedroom. I ended up getting a Simpsons game and Zoo Tycoon for my DS, and then I spotted Free Time and Bon Voyage for the Sims 2 for a fiver each so I grabbed those too. Nerd. We nipped into Poundland and came away with a couple of pretty square pictures (‘Make More Tea!’ and ‘Home Sweet Home’) and loads of sweets, obviously. James wanted to have a quick browse in Primark and ended up coming out £40 lighter but with loads of clothes so he was happy. Then we went to Argos and got the curtains before heading to B&Q for some screws and door-springy things. Busy busy.
Stopped at Tesco because we wanted a couple of ciders each since it was so hot. We came out with 16 bottles between us.
Got home and stepped into what can only be described as a furnace. All the windows and doors were open and the thermometer in the conservatory still read 37 degrees. Unfortunately today was ‘crack on with house stuff’ day so no sitting down for us, oh no. We bought new light fittings the other day so James put those up while I "helped" by handing him screwdrivers at his command. We did have a bit of an oops moment when we dropped one of the old lights from the lounge and the glass smashed everywhere but other than that they were up relatively quickly. They look really nice, I’m chuffed. So much brighter than the old ones too.
Next was shelving. We wanted to put all eight up today but it was so hot in the bedroom and took so long just to do two that we called it a day. They’re going to look really good though. I’m just begging this heat to pass. I got a horrible headache earlier just from doing the housework and I always seem to wake up with headaches when it’s hot overnight so I’m already dreading tomorrow morning. Can’t win, eh.
Sent off for free Thorpe Park tickets as well, so fingers crossed it arrives by the cut-off date and we get tickets for a day we’re both free!
