Things other people notice about us
I had a coworker tell me the other day that he always sees me walking the halls but never says hello because I always walk with my head down. I said, “Really?” Funny, I never even noticed I do that. Interesting what other people notice about us that we don’t really think about in our own minds.
I said I guess it’s because I’m always deep in thought. But I really think it’s my insecurity. If I look down, I don’t have to suffer greeting people I don’t know and put on that fake smile I always have to call up. I’m not really comfortable looking a lot of people in the face. It can be exhausting to me.
He said he just assumed I’m very focused.

I used to get this kind of thing, and be told to “smile!” – when I just had sixty-five things going on in my head at the same time.

Good to meet you too! I agree about Madeleine Peyroux…she was different in concert but a better different. I’m an ex New Yorker who moved to Baltimore 11 years ago with my then 5 year old daughter. I moved to Silver Spring cos I got remarried. I like it here but it won’t be permanent…wanderlust is already rearing it’s head…when my daughter goes to college we’ll probably figure out what the next step is. Hope you are enjoying OD and Maryland!
