Angel hair
I’m surprised I’m still alive. I’m decorating my china cabinet for the holidays and including little LED lights. And as I was thinking the best way to utilize those lights, I suddenly remembered one of those moments in time. The angel hair. My mother would buy packages of angel hair and we would spend forever spreading it apart and placing it on the mantle along with whatever holiday decor she decided to use that year. The stuff was made of fiberglass and/or spun glass. And it is no longer sold at your local Newberry’s. Which makes sense because J.J. Newberry doesn’t exist anymore. Anyway, considering the fact that breathing fiberglass particles could cause serious damage, I wonder if Child Services would have taken me away from my mother. We’ll never know. I think the spun glass variety might still be sold, but that is almost as crazy. You’d have to wear gloves, goggles, and long sleeves to protect yourself from the hazards of handling spun glass. And what little kid couldn’t resist shoving into their mouth because they thought it was cotton candy. Ahhh – the miracle of Christmas.
A lot of house insulation is pink and fluffy like cotton candy too!
