I miss you when I don’t write….
It’s now 8 am on Sunday… the last day of my second three day weekend. I have had oatmeal with sliced almonds, golden raisins and bananas. I think maybe chopped walnuts is the nutty way to go with oatmeal. The sliced almonds have too little texture while whole almonds have too much texture -= they are too big, in other words.
Sun is coming in from the east – lighting the edge of the Atwood bookcase, sending stripes across the desk and glows elsewhere. Public radio just finished the financial show which hadn’t heard before this week on its first two iterations. Now it’s one of those comic quiz shows – Sez You – I think this one is.
I have New York magazine opened to a Jensen-Lewis furniture ad = what used to be called Swedish modern – Audrey Extension Table with Ingrid Chairs is in the big picture and three bedroom ‘set’s in small pictures across the bottom. Furniture is made in Vermont by Copeland Furniture which is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council for its use of sustainable lumber.
After a while….
By now it’s 8:25 and the sun has moved up and southwest in the sky. I can see it through the east door onto the porch. It’s now gleaming on the edge of the Jensen-Lewis ad and extending across the table to my hands on the keyboard. It’s shining on the basket on the desk by the refrigerator and I see it in the oak trees by the road that still have their red-brown leaves.
Morning is a gift.
Sunshine is a gift.
Life is a gift.
Light is a gift too.
I LOVE that furniture. Now I have to find out if it’s obtainable in this benighted area. When we bought this house, I bought all the “Danish Modern” furniture that was in it, but that was really only a den/diningroom group and the master bedroom, in which I do not sleep. Oh how I would like to divest my home of the last of “lump” furniture and replace it with lovely straight lines and hard simplicity, so great for my bad back, so easy on the eyes and so little dust-catching to bother my allergy. A lovely temptation to dream over.

I like this low key entry. I feel relaxed just reading it! (Of course, I’m still in bed, with my laptop, so I SHOULD feel relaxed!)

beautiful furniture, I’d like it the condo I’m gonna rent with Wayne in Edmonton, lol you are a gift too! Happy Sunday!

I like Swedish modern style but it wouldn’t look right in my place, which is more “depression traditional”.

You are a joy to read.

Thanks for sharing your morning…I feel somewhat that I was there, which is almost as good as leaving the house and being elsewhere. Your note today: it’s true. In the South our culture is open to sharing fate’s blows and slings, arrows…do you think more than in other areas of the country? I once washed the blood spattered on the walls, floors and flowerpots from a gunshot wound to the head of a friend’s lover’s brother, who died on the spot in her apartment. Nothing we shrink from sharing with our friends, I suppose.

Is your hair longer now? Like it!

This entry is a gift. Because it makes me feel so much better about sitting here, sipping spice tea and watching the light travel around the room. Thank you.

Beautiful furniture – simple, yet powerful. I miss you – and everyone – when I don’t write.

As I am allergic to many nuts, I’m limited to which ones I can use – and LOVE pecans in oatmeal. Actually they were the first ones I became allergic to… but can eat them now. Go figure!

The hotel where Mr. LBH and I stayed in January had a bistro downstairs that made a terrific oatmeal. It had all kinds of berries and nuts sprinkled on top. Mr. LBH was immediately won over.

Espresso coffee and two slices of lightly toasted farmhouse bread with red grapefruit marmalade. Radio reception is very poor here, I like radio for chat and music, best of all are the audio plays, as a young girl said years ago on radio the pictures are better on radio!

I use black walnuts, dried cranberries, brown sugar in my oatmeal. I make it in the crockpot the night before. Wonderful to wake up to. RYN: I have a lot of family stories about the Amish relatives that I’ve always intended to put together and never have. Maybe someday.

I’ll be needing that Audrey dining table, with six chairs please. Can you take care of that for me?

Sunlight coming into a house, into a room… something I love to notice!

Blueberries is best with oatmeal. When I don’t write, I read. As I did here. Be well.

Shouldn’t that be “We miss YOU when you don’t write”?? Scananavian furniture is lovely.

lovely entry…you too are a gift my friend. As for the oatmeal and nuts…perhaps for a change you may like to try some seeds instead…sunflower seeds are very nutritious. I sprinkle a blend on my porridge or cereal called LSA….I grind up( in a small coffee grinder) 1 cup almonds, 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds and 1/2 cup of flaxseed ( linseed)….it makes a very healthy blend and can be used inmany food options. Nice to roll meat in instead of breadcrumbs too. Just a thought. Have a great day… hugs p

Indeed, a wonderful entry – 🙂 I’m a purist, Quaker Old Fashioned (I like texture and the instant or Quick varieties have none) with a pat of butter and some Splenda (although I guess the Splenda isn’t terribly pure).

I like that furniture a lot. 🙂

Most of all, you are a gift. Tomorrow I will notice the sun. Mainly I gauge its movement by the sunspots the cats are sleeping it. / I love Danish modern furniture. In Cedar Falls we have a Danish davenport. It is a thing of beauty – curved teak sides, wool cushion covers. Bought it decades ago and it still looks excellent. Timeless furniture. Also have two bookcases between which a curved TB unit fits. I love that, too, course the TV section is too small for modern TV’s so it’s now stuffed with books. The sliding doors are like a vertical roller top desk. Thanks for evoking all those thoughts!
