Routine? (pic)

4:45pm

What’s a typical day like for us?

I wake up to breastfeed Robert around 5am up till 7am. Today it was at 7 that he wanted to eat.  Then we go on our walk.  We climb to the "Rattlesnake Crossing" sign.    There we turn around and come back down the hill to home.  The walk probably takes 40ish minutes.  Maybe a little less.  I have Robert strapped to my front in a front pack.  He faces me and the front pack accomodates his head and supports it upright.  I have this hat that I bought in Jamaica.  It’s very wide brimmed, so it’s become perfect for me to wear to shade the baby on our walks.  If the sun comes at us in a different direction, then I remove the hat from my head and I just hold it like an umbrella to shade him.  I guess babies aren’t supposed to wear sunscreen till 6 months of age, so there’s no putting them in the sun until then (kinda).   So I do my best to shade him.  He’s SO fair skinned!  (just like mama!)

side note:  *ah Shaggy’s video for Mr. Lover Lover just came on my TV*

So we climb up and back, then Mom’s good and hot/tired.  Then I attempt to put him down on the bed for a moment.  He proceeds to do this HUGE stretch where he sticks in it for a few minutes with his back arched and his little tush stuck out as hard as humanly possible!!  Then, inevitably he’ll become upset because he’s needing a diaper change or a feeding.  Then I THOUGHT he’d go to sleep, but for the past couple days, he’s staying  up for more excitement.

So we’ve done Tummy Time.  We’ve now broadcast him on the internet yesterday to my parents and today to Aunt Phyllis.  Today Phyllis watched him get a bath!!  It was fun.  She had just had some "minor’ surgery done on her scalp this morning!  So we entertained her all afternoon!

Anyway.  He’s sleeping in his swing right now.  I have to get Dylan from his school by 6.  It’s almost 5 now.  I should just pick the baby up and stick him in the carseat.  But I always feel I have to change him or feed him and then the leaving takes a while.

Can I just say that Reggae is where it’s at for me right now.  I’ve been strictly listening to reggae since I got pregnant really.  I mean the OCCASSIONAL Boston album, or The Killers, but pretty much just reggae.  An old Melody Makers (with Ziggy) video is now playing.  I love this DVD.  It’s Reggae and Ska videos and it rocks.  or rocks steady as the case may be!!

I should probably take this time to practice bass a bit.  I’ve been wanting to, just never taking the time to do it.

Dylan is to stay the night again tonight.  his mom’s car is broken down and supposedly taking longer than expected to get fixed…blah, blah, blah.  Whatever.  Just seems a shame that her boyfriend never seems to do anything to help Dylan out.  But at least he has his Dad and me.  Although, his mom did mention that he’s none too happy about having to stay over here.  Nothing like feeling loved!!  But that’s ok.  We have rules here, and no TV (cable or any channels at all) and I suspect it’s not as fun here.  But whatever.

anywho.  I think I’ll save this and smootch the baby!!

Oh he looks so tiny!! Miia’s so chubby compared to Robert! 😀 Miia and I are going to a pool party next Saturday so I’ve been researching the same topic. I’m going to keep her in the shade (it’s an outdoor pool) and if at any point that’s not possible, I’ll do my best to cover her with a cloth or something. I went to the store to check the sunscreens and they all say to use it on babies under 6 months only with doctor’s approval. So, shade it is! 🙂
