Ahhh…finally i write.

Robert got sick for the first time starting maybe 4 days ago.  It started with a stuffy nose.  It progressed to a productive cough, but his lungs were always clear (I checked!)  One morning his cough was "barking!"  I freaked and listened to his breath sounds and his throat.  I worried about Epiglotitis, but he never had fever, or drooling, or any real problem, except for the darn cough!!  He tolerated the illness pretty well, and only didn’t sleep solidly thru 2 nights.  When his cough started him wheezing I called the Pediatrician at my work and asked his advice.  Should I take Robert in to the Urgent Care?  He asked me some questions and in the end said he didn’t think it sounded like I needed to take him in right now.  Yay!!  So I just kept assessing him at home, and he’s progressively just gotten better.  Thank goodness!  Dylan was home sick from school for 2 days.  Then he gets a note home from his school with the Scarlet Fever/Sore Throat/ Streptococcus area checked off.  I guess the illenss is running rampant thru his school.  I hope everyone just stays well now.  So far, Roy and I have been lucky! *fingers crossed*

OK.  Here’s the laughter I mentioned (and it wasn’t laughing at Robert’s illness!!)

Someone at my work is leaving the job after 27 years and so there was a Potluck lunch planned.  Usually I am too lazy to prepare anything and since I live so far away from my job, etc. I usually cheese out of making anything (and then I end up eating for free! – like I said "CHEESY!!")  So THIS time I planned ahead and shopped days in advance.  I was preparing to make spinach dip with Hawaiian bread. I had to prepare this in between shifts (which never leaves much time!)  So I came home from work and took over care of the baby.  I gave him a bath, fed him and put him to sleep.  Then I had to clean the kitchen and prepare coffee and lunches for the next day.  THEN I made the dip and cut up the Hawaiian bread into cubes.  I was so proud of myself cuz I got it all done!! yay!  So I put it in the fridge in containers, and ready to go!!  roy was already asleep in the bedroom.  So I snuck into the bathroom to paint my nails!!  I *really* got a lot done that night!!  As I was painting my nails, Roy walks by toward the kitchen in a sleepy haze.  I paid no attention.  Then he walks back into the bedroom eating something and again I don’t really pay any attention.  I mention that I was thinking about the fart he let loose the night before.  (!!)  It was so long and loud, that he started cracking up in the middle of it.  When he did that the fart changed tone and pressure!!  It was HILARIOUS!!  It actually had me laughing about it again the next night!!  Then I say slowly…"whatcha eating?"  No Reply.  It slowly starts to dawn on me…  "You’re not eating the Hawaiian bread I just cut up for my work potluck are you?"  No Reply.  Then I hear SNICKERING coming from the bedroom.  "You DIDN’T!!"  I say, as I spring up out of the bathroom and run into the bedroom to see what he’s macking on.  He’s got Hawaiian Bread crumbs in his beard and some pieces still in his hand and some even on the matress where I’m supposed to lie down!  OMG!!!  I couldn’t believe it!  I was so mad, but I couldn’t stop LAUGHING!!  He was laughing so hard!!  We laughed and laughed!!  I told him (in between gasps for air) that when I stopped laughing I was gonna kill him!! And not to mistake the huge smile on my face to mean that I wasn’t mad at him!!  He just kept laughing!!  It was pretty funny!  What were the chances?!  I guess it goes with the whole thing about going back to the fridge multiple times when you’re hungry as if something will magically appear that wasn’t there the last time you checked.  So this time something DID magically appear for him!  And he just went with it!! Not a care in the world!! Must be nice!

OK.  I’m tired and must go lie down. Night!
