Cutting off my husbands Dreadlock
This is a late entry, but I didn’t want to forget to journal it.
I cut off my husbands hair. It was the WEIRDEST, and one of the hardest things I’ve ever done!! The mass that his hair had become actually felt like a LIMB or an appendage of some sort. It was like a creature of it’s own. I’d never seen anything like it. Or touched anything like it. I actually got this feeling like it was skin that I was cutting through. I was shaking like a leaf the first cut I made. Roy had me do it all sorts of slow ways. He tried (we tried) everything to try to save his hair. I even emailed and then spoke with a woman who does Dreads in Texas to see what we could do about his hair!! I realized early on that it all needed to come off. BUt he had me try to remove parts slowly and carefully as if his hair would just explode out of a thin layer of tangles ont he topof the dread. WRONG!! It was the most solid mass of hair I’d ever encountered. All I can say is he must have felt such relief to have that weight taken off his head.
And let me tell you! He looked SO damn sexy with it cut off!!! His hair was a wild, wavy mess of natural, and even the color was different when the dread was gone. His hair had become an Ash Blonde instead of the bright yellow blond of earlier days. And boy, did we have fun that night!! My way of welcoming my short-haired husband to the passenger side of the bed!! *wink, wink!* He did keep the 2 dreads in front. they are cool and look pretty good!
