Does it actually exist? Sounds a little fishy to me. If you are concerned with Bush pulling a stunt like this, I’ll gladly tell you that it won’t happen. It’d take a nuclear bomb destroying Washington, an extremely unlikely occurrence, to paralyze the operations of government.

The Progressive has done some articles on this. Go to http://www.progressive.org and search around. Shuk is right. The country would blow up if it happened. They didn’t cancel elections even during the Civil War for crying out loud. But I have little doubt that such an order exists.

Bush signed some sort of Executive Order recently on the subject of national emergencies, it gives the executive sweeping power over goods, property etc. It may or may not allow for the suspension of elections without Congressional oversight. The odds of Bush staying past Jan 21st 2009 are 0.
