YOu know, women always say no when they mean yes…of course, I think you might be talking about something entirely different.

lol you know I just read about that before and immediately thought of you and a friend of mine, ‘cos I knew you’d both have the same reaction. I’ve never read the books, but I have a deep respect for them and would love to read them one day. I think it’s so wrong for someone else to ‘add’ to them. Not cool at all. xo

Eoin Colfer is a brilliant, BRILLIANT children’s author, probably one of the best alive today. Why he feels it is necessary to ride on the back of a genius like Douglas Adams is beyond me. I can see the ‘Devil May Care’ situation happening all over again, where the novel is a pile of crap. The original artists of such great pieces of literature devote their whole minds and lives into the work theyproduce, it is their baby, labour of love, and what they live, breath and sleep. No other author can take that place and produce a piece of writing even comparable to the originals. Which is why fan fiction is so spectacularly, mind-numbingly shite. I think somebody should ask Eion how he would feel if somebody were to write an ‘Artemis Fowl’ book after he died.

I agree completely, this shouldn’t happen… but then again, how crappy would have been if they never made another Star Trek project after Roddenberry died, or if no James Bond stuff was ever made after Ian Fleming passed on. I realized that the idea of writing characters beyond an author’s lifespan is playing with fire and a mere money grab, but if the author is in this to pay homeage to the author and is a genuine fan of the work, it might be a good book. 95% of stuff like this that comes after the creator passes on usually turns out to be crap, but let them try. Just Cross your fingers this turns out to be the rare 5%. Later,
