Welfare worries

I am sick with worry.  Centrelink worries.  Just got a letter today telling me I have to update my info.  You’re supposed to tell them every time your bank balance changes by $1,000 up or down.  I never really bothered to check my balance, and it’s been years since I updated the data.  Now I realise that my balance has increased by rather more than a grand, and I’m terrified they’re going to take it away if I tell them.  And now it’s the weekend, so I can’t even make an anonymous enquiry until next week. 

This seems so ridiculous.  Such a capitalist society and I’m a pensioner, poorest of the poor, and likely to be persecuted for having too MUCH money.
