A Moment in Time ( descriptive essay attempt)
Have you ever wondered why when a certain song plays you just want to sing along? Or you wake up one day and all you can think about is why a certain song is in your head? Music appeals to our emotions, what were thinking or feeling on a particular day. That is what makes a song popular how it appeals to the minds, and lifestyles of the listening public. The specific genres Rock, Rap, R&B, Country, Hip Hop, Metal etc . all have different aspects of life that appeal to people.
I prefer rap music because I think it takes guts to speak about how life is and not wishing it was different. Then there are people who would say Rap, Hip Hop and Metal music are all from the devil, just because of the lyrics. Condemning a song just because of the way it is expressed has always seemed stupid to me.
This song speaks to me of heartache and life troubles, which seem to keep coming no matter what he does to change his life. The references to a heart point out the heart ache. Feelings like this occur after every relationship breakup, the feelings are real, not faked. Most times their kept on the inside of a person so the person is so miserable that it shows in their life and then it comes tumbling out, in a song, or poetry or just as words to a friend.
I connect with lyrics depending on the mood I am in. For example, Nickelbacks How You Remind Me is about being fresh off a broken heart from a relationship that you thought would last. Any time my heart hurts, or is squeezed I pull up the song and play it and I feel so much better to know that I am not alone. When we connect to something its either through our emotions, thinking, or feeling strongly about something. Its how we relate to things going on in our lives.
Music is a part of everyones emotions that consist of what is currently happening in our daily lives. What we prefer at any given time is different from the time before, because the circumstances change. There are presets that we can tune into a.k.a. the music genres they separate the type of music into distinct areas, that we have preferences for. So we can easily find what we are looking for when we need it to relax, get excited or feel some deep depressing or uplifting music.
How you remind me by Nickelback
Never made it as a wise man
I couldn’t cut it as a poor man stealin’
Tired of livin’ like a blind man
I’m sick of sight without a sense of feelin
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what i really am
This is how you remind me
Of what i really am
It’s not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I’m mistaken
For Handing you a heart worth breakin’
I’ve been wrong,I’ve been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream “are we having fun yet?”
Yet?,Yet?,Yet?. no no
It’s not like you didn’t know that
I said I love you and i sear i still do
It must have been so bad
Cus livin’ with me must have damn near killed you
This is how you remind me
Of what i really am
This is how you remind me
Of what i really am
It’s not like you to say sorry
I was waiting on a different story
This time I’m mistaken
For Handing you a heart worth breakin’
I’ve been wrong,I’ve been down
Been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head
Scream “are we having fun yet?”
