the lovely bones

Things have been so busy here, and I’d imagine they will become even more so once I begin school.  I have 1 week of free time left and then I hand my life over to the Uni gods…  I have to admit, getting into some routine again will be wonderful.  As much as I enjoy spending time lazing about, it can get quite boring and uneventful.  On top of that, I’ve been spending a rediculous amount of money on books, just to save myself from staring at the t.v. all day and watching my brain turn to mush.  Come to think of it, I suppose I could have gone to find a library…..

Well, Kurtis and Christine are having an excellent time exploring the city.  It’s nice just having them around and being able to laugh at my brother’s jokes again.  Last night we made a nice “sunday dinner”.. Quiche, roast potatoes and steamed broccoli and carrots, with a strawberry cheesecake for dessert.  Delicious.  After that we played Trivial Persuit and I (ofcourse) lost by 2 “wedgies”… I blame the fact that it’s an Australian version and I haven’t been in the country long enough to know the answers to sports history questions, and so on..

It’s a rainy day outside, which is nice for a change.. The +40 degree weather can get a bit stifling, especially in a non-airconditioned home.  I find I even have trouble thinking in heat like that.  Maybe that’s why I haven’t been writing in a while, and why I chose to write today.  I suppose once winter comes along it should change things a little bit.

Anyways, just a quick update this time.. I don’t want to lose this diary, and should try not to neglect it.  Take care everyone!

.xox.

i can’t imagine heat. : ) ryn: kings cake is a louisiana mardi gras tradition. it’s more of a pastry, and inside of it is a baby (jesus). whoever gets the baby in their piece is the king/queen, and either hosts the party or provides the cake for the following year. even as just a cake, it’s good. the recipe i used can be found at http://cake.allrecipes.com/az/MardiGrasKingCake.asp

it’s actually for two cakes, so you can cut the recipe in half. you can also convert it to metric, if that’s what your familiar with. : ) it’s good, you should definitely try it! mardi gras is on tuesday,a fterall. ; )
