the great outdoors

This one’s for Shally (and ofcourse anyone else who feels the urge to read!)- should provide some entertainment for you on one of "those" days ;o)

You know what?  There are times when I very much dislike the human species.  It’s during these times when I enjoy hiding in my home, with the doors closed and locked and not going out anywhere.  I’d rather talk to my cat, then a human being.  In fact, one of the most fabulous things I’ve learned at Uni all week is that cats can actually speak.  Not just "meow"…they can actually speak.  English.  Just ask my communication networks prof, he’ll tell you all about it!!  I tried teaching Java how to say "hello Kristin."  I think we may have to work a while longer though, because so far all he can do is go "mewwwah!"

I had such a lovely day at work yesterday.  Really I did!  I first ran into a girl from the childcare center I used to work at.  It was nice to see her.  She said that everyone who had originally worked there is gone now.  The only people left are her and K. (who, incidentally, is pregnant again and so will be leaving soon.)  The turn over in that place is insane!!  The woman who replaced me was also encouraged out, or basically given no shifts the way I was.  Same with the new girl who started when I was just leaving (the one who talked about sleeping with all the kid’s fathers- she was a real winner.)  And N. left because she got pregnant also.  She’s thrilled about this, despite the fact that she’s 21 and her 31 year old divorced boyfriend will not committ.  I don’t miss that place.  After speaking to her, I continued about my work for a little while.  You know, folding sweaters, that sort of thing when I heard a bit of commotion at the back of the store.  Apparently, a male customer hit on one of the guys (we’ll call him "G") in the toy department!  G went and got the ladder to get a toy from the top shelf for this man, when the man started to pinch G’s nipples and say "awwwwww, thank you baby..!!"  Good lord.  He was like "excuse me sir, can you please not touch me"  Haha.  I would never have been so calm.  The guy would have been lucky if I didn’t deck him, lol.  I for sure would have yelled.  People are sick.  Later, when I was coming home I went to sit on the train and a woman sat down beside me.  She started talking loudly (to me exclusively ofcourse) about mard-gras, and saying derrogatory things about homosexuals.  I was like…good god, this is not actually happening.  She goes "have you ever met a <insert derrogatory term here>??"  I said "Actually, I have friends who are gay."  She starts laughing.  Then she starts listing gay celebrities, asks if I’ve seen men dressed as women, and goes on to state that Michael Jackson is a rapist!  (Lord help me.)  Thankfully, my stop was only the next station over so I could get off and run like hell.  Sometimes this city can be a little bit too much to handle.  Anyways, just when I thought I was in the clear I get to my bus stop and who’s standing there but the nipple pincher!!!  What a fu*king awesome co-incidence.  (I’m sorry, but this was just too much.)  I stood about 10 meteres away, with my MP3 player plugged in and made sure there were several people in between myself and the nutcase.  The bus finally came, and I was able to get home safely and lock my doors to hide from the crazies for as long as possible.  I haven’t opened the door since.

So there you have it, a day in the life of a Winnipeg girl living in Sydney.  I’m never leaving home again.

.xox.
