I’m wearing my new wooden beaded necklace and it makes me happy. Just wanted to share that.
Well this weekend was as great as I had hoped! The baby shower went smoothly, I think everybody had a good time. They enjoyed the food (two thumbs up for me, because I made it all!) and Melanie got some awesome gifts. Most people left by around 10:30 or so, which was fine. A select few stayed until very late, 1am so I am told! My only complaint about the evening was the fact that news spread so fast about my staying in Winnipeg. Every 5 minutes someone was coming up, giving me a hug and the whole "I’m so sorry…" spiel. I appreciate the concern, but at the same time I’d like to get over this now. It put a slight damper on the evening and wasn’t as much fun for myself personally as I had expected. Oh well, I guess it’ll pass eventually.
At around 11pm Andrea, Michelle and I decided to head out to meet some friends. We went to BP (Boston Pizza, for you non-locals) and sat out on the patio enjoying some eats and double long island iced teas. Yumm yumm! Bryan saw a UFO, I had some rather delicious green pepper and black olive pizza, we laughed and were merry…Then Doug was kind enough to put up with us and drive us all home. YAY!
Early on Saturday morning we decided to head out to the lake. Leticia took her car and drove Andrea and myself. My parents followed and Kurt and Christine (plus all the lake neighbours) were already there. We got there before lunch, spent ALL day tanning and swimming and goofing around. Leticia had to leave by 4pm, which was unfortunate.. But I’ve promised her another full weekend out there with me 2 weeks from now. After dinner we sat around the fire on Erica’s patio, right on the water front. It’s so much nicer than in the back where we used to have them! I do believe there was some s’more making involved, and everyone knows there was a lot of drinking involved as always. Let the good times begin at Brereton lake…
Anyways, we got home last night around 10pm and I was rather exhausted. I got a pleasant little sunburn on my tummy and the tops of my legs and I was happily tired from the swimming and partying. Weekends like these remind me why I’m glad to be home – and so glad to know that I’m staying here. That’s all for now, kids. I’m heading out bathing suit shopping with Christine this afternoon, so perhaps I’ll have more stories for you tomorrow. Until then!

Wow SOunds like you had a great weekend! It’s always nice when the weather’s hot too! Glad to hear that you’re enjoying this time with family and friends…seems like you never left! Sorry to hear about all the people coming up to you and re-hashing the past. But it’s just one of the hurdles that you have to go through. Seems like you’re doing fine!
