These days in history

In America, a scientist self-immolated himself in front of the White House to protest climate change.

Roe v. Wade will be overturned in a couple of months.

LGBT rights are constantly under assault.

War shaming Russia is pushing their crazy leader toward using a nuclear bomb and back here in the states half the nation is sucking the proverbial cock of a man who attempted to instigate a coup.

We had historically record-breaking snows in my state this month, when we should be having nothing more than showers.

Record numbers of Americans are homeless, people would rather kill one another than wear a mask, stores are running short on food.

And a scientist self-immolated himself in front of the White House to protest climate change.

I just want this all on record.  I want, at least a symbolic, recording of these events so I can look back on them in a decade and think ‘I can’t believe we survived through all that’ … though chances are I will be thinking ‘I wish things were still that good’.

Maybe we won’t be here at all.  Maybe this will all be a joke and living in the age of information overload has driven us all insane.

Whatever the case, we must not forget where we were at this moment.

The Chinese were right – I have lived in interesting times.
