OD Survey
1.) What does your online diary name mean, and why did you pick it?
Virtuekid is just a username I’ve been using for years, first started using it when we got the internet (I was 15, 1999). The meaning of it is quite simple. I try to be a virtuous kid.
2.) When did you first get an online diary?
I started this diary back in 2001.
3.)How did you find out about OD?
There was some sort of OD fad back in the day, both of my sisters had one, and a few of my friends from school had one here, so I started one. Mine is the only one that lasted.
4.)Why did you start an Open Diary?
When I first started this OD, I guess it was just to write about my day and my issues with my ex girlfriend. We had just broken up after a year.
5.) When writing in your diary do you feel like you are writing for the reader or for you?
I write for myself, definetly. I’m sentimental and like to reread these entries often. I can see myself grow.
6.) When writing an entry, are you completely honest?
Yea. Otherwise what’s the point?
7.) Describe your writing setting?
Currently it’s an uncomfortable desk, but at least I have a TV nearby always playing something. I need noise to focus my thoughts.
8.) Is anyone you know (in real life) allowed to read your diary?
Yea I can think of a few. Brooke, Jonathan.
9.) Do you know anyone with a diary in real life, which you are allowed to read?
Not people who REGULARLY UPDATE. I got plenty of friends with blogs they don’t touch for months.
10.) Has anyone found your diary that you really didn’t want to find it?
My parents visited it once when I still lived with them (long long ago), that was pretty unpleasant.
11.) Do you believe writing in your online diary is therapeutic?
For myself; most definetly.
12.) How many entries do you have?
Not counting this one, I have 450 public entries. I had more, but they got deleted during that hacker attack on OD a few years ago. I’m still pretty pissed about that.
13.) Do you have any private entries?
Yea.
14.) If you answered yes to that, (without getting too personal), why don’t you want people to see them?
Because some things are meant for myself and only myself.
15.) How many favorites do you have?
Let’s see. Looks like 32, 4 of them being guys, the rest being girls, and I think one of them is an Amanda duplicate.
16.) Do you know who your first favorite was? Who has been on your list the longest?
I think Helen is my first favorite, and the longest.
17.) Which of your faves is most similar to you?
Michael is definetly similiar to me. I think he’s nicer than me, though. I’m always pissed off at the world.
18.) Which one of your faves is different from you and why?
Probably Amanda. Because she’s social and very extroverted at times, even if she’s secretly an introvert.
19.) Your entry list has just updated? Who do you go to first, second, third?
I usually just start from the top of the list and go down. So I guess that means the latest update first.
20.) Who is your newest fave?
lilabelle
21.) If you could meet any of your faves in real life (and you were sure they weren’t an ax murderer), who would you pick and why?
I’m reaaaaaaaaaaally not the social type.
22.) Do you talk to your faves online?
I’ve talked to quite a few of them online. Some of them are on my Facebook friend list too.
23.) Do you ever write an entry while intoxicated?
lol. Yes. Yes I have. Look for serious typos in the titles.
24.) Do you feel accepted by the diary community?
They don’t bother me, if that’s what you’re asking, but I don’t really consider myself apart of a community here. Every now and then I get a nasty note, but people are people.
25.) Have you ever feel in love with someone over open diary?
No. But I’ve truly sympathised for fellow OD users.
26.) Have you ever read an entry that really moved you? Has anyone read an entry that made you cry?
Yea. I’ve read some real tear-jerker entries. It’s sad. One time I came across an OD that supposedly was a guy who killed himself. It got pretty sad as his entries went on. Then there’s lots of women out there struggling with eating disorders. Lonely people. There’s good stuff on this site. I surf the random often. Makes me forget about my crappy life to read about others.
27.) What are your favorite kinds of entries to read?
Deep emotional ones, or really funny ones, or great achievement ones.
28.) After writing an entry how long do you wait to see if you have notes?
I always read my entry after I posted it to check it for typos. Then I refresh. If there are no notes, I close it and just check it later.
29.) If you don’t have notes, do you feel left down?
No. This OD is for me, not for notes.
30.) How many notes do you usually get?
1-2 per entry.
31.) Did you know the more notes you leave, the more notes you get?
Yes. But did you know the more notes you leave, the more notes you leave? People suck.
32.) Do you delete mean or offensive notes?
I make it a point to never censor. There are plenty of nasty notes scattered throughout my OD that were left by anonymous people.
33.) Have you ever left a nasty note and not signed your name?
I’ve never left a nasty note without leaving my name. I have left nice notes without leaving my name though.
34.) Have you ever left notes on a person’s diary just to make them feel better?
Yea. Sometimes I can’t help but wish I could help someone.
35.) Do you keep a paper copy of your online diary?
No.
36.) Do you go back and reread your entries?
All the time.
Think of you often.
Warning Comment
You know what? I think I remember finding you through one of your friends, way back in… 2003 maybe? What was his name… Jon? Jonathan? Do you realise the hacker attack was almost 6 years ago now? I remember it was in the later months of 2004 – I remember where I was when it happened. Hah. I like your answer to 31. Kind of backs up your answer to 21.

Aw, some humans are all right. Question that should have been on here: is this your first or only diary/journal/thingie or one among many?
