Weekend Happenings

Quiet weekend now coming to a close. I got a couple of fall walks in – yesterday at sunrise by myself at the Vermillion Reservation which was nice but a little wet and then Sunday afternoon with Diane. We went on the paved path to avoid the wet ground. It was about 45 degrees and very windy! I had on my winter coat, wool gloves and a hat and I was still cold. We went about 3 miles or so.

Next we went to Best Buy to find a set of noise cancelling head phones. I’ve been wanting them for years and Diane said she would buy them for me. Well, they didn’t have any more. We decided to go to Bennigans for an early dinner and then order some on the internet. I waited on hold for 10 minutes then gave up. They must not be open on Sunday evenings.

Yesterday was cloudy and in the 50’s so we raked up 6 bags of leaves. We’ve probably got another 6 or more to do once the rest of the leaves fall.

Today was much cooler with rain in the morning and high winds later. I read some of my yoga book from BKS Iyengar – seems like a good read so far, maybe a little etherial. The other book I’m reading (one of them) is "Unbowed" a memoir by Wangari Maathai (she won the Nobel Peace Prize last year or the year before for her work empowering Kenyan women by paying them to plant trees). The book won’t make it to the best seller list but it’s interesting to hear the perspective of a Kenyan woman. I visit Kenya a couple of times each year so I’ve become more interested in their history and culture.

My UVM hockey cats lost 2 games this weekend so this may not be a very good year for them. On the plus side, the Ohio State football team is rolling and #1 in the country. Justin is really kicking himself for not getting organized and buying a season pass. Tickets for the upcoming Michigan game are selling for hundreds of dollars.

Well, time to help Diane with her new Piano. The instructions aren’t too good so it takes 2 of us to figure them out.

Fun to listen to how things are going.
