Summarizing 2020
Here is the current state of the cabin. Diane and I are resting outside
Recording 2020 things
- CORONOVIRUS PANDEMIC! – Very little travel this year
- Rotator cuff tear – Sept 2 and took until now to recover (still not 100% range of motion, but close)
- Cruise – Run-For-Fun with Randy and Jeanie,
- Attended Zach and Rachel’s wedding in Bryson City, NC. Visited Asheville too
- Visited mom at her place in Florida in January
- Mary Schettler died in November. Her sons Jared and Greg visited in the summer on their cross country motorcycle trip
Around the property
- Rebuilt the bridge with PT decking, stained the new rails
- Installed rolling firewood rack along the back of the garage.
- New culvert going into the upper meadow
- Took the old culvert (2 pcs) and put one near the garden and the other in the woods past the swamp where the stream crosses the trail
- Put boards on the exterior of the cabin – Still not doors or insulation
- Moved the roadside tank down to the sugar house and rerouted the lines under the road – easier to monitor and clean
- Moved the vacuum pump outside to reduce the noise level
- Added 500 more taps – brings us to over 2500
- Cleared the large oak trees that blew down 2 years ago near the back of the property. We kept most of the big logs and have then near the sawmill
- Opened up a new trail where these trees were down
- Sawed up several large logs for Ryan McNall
- Relocated the VAST trail to avoid the steep hill
Nice to see you again. Glad that you avoided Covid and were able to visit safely.
