Sugaring Starts 2018
Sugaring began today for 2018. We got all the trees tapped on Friday with the help of Roy, Andy and Tom. Gerry did most of the work last week and left about 1000 trees to tap. Yesterday we got the vacuum leaks fixed and had a big pot of venison stew. The sap ran through the night slowly and picked up this afternoon. We got enough to run and fill the evaporator. We didn’t make any syrup but the rig is full.

When I was in elementary school, my favorite book was Miracle on Maple Hill. Though I never participated, it sounded so amazing to be part of sugaring season. Sounds like a big task. Can’t wait to hear more.
