Skiing At Last
We finally got some decent snow this week. We didn’t get the 11″ they were projecting but we got about 6 so it was enough to get out in the woods. It’s been a poor year for snow and a bit too warm for normal winter activities. I had a few good ski days before heading to Florida on Feb 2. Then everything melted. When I got back on Feb 14th it hit 50 the next day and we were making syrup. We had one more day of boiling and now we’re shut down for the foreseeable future.
One consolation is that Justin and Joni will be coming up for a long weekend next week. They want to do some skiing and things look favorable.
One other item to mention is our home-made beer. I may have mentioned about getting the free kegs and equipment plus a kegerator for $1! We brewed the beer in Dec and kegged it up on New Years Eve. Gerry and I tapped it on the 15th after 6 weeks of aging. It is delicious! We had some trouble with foam until we figured out that the pressure, tubing length and diameter are critical. Who knew? Anyway, I ordered the right fittings and tubing on Amazon and Tuesday we installed it and it worked perfectly! Draft beer at the sugarhouse. What a treat.
I guess we’re just livin the dream!
Namaste
I am glad your beer turned out well. I have had some home-brews that were, well, bracing. It comes down to chemistry and precision. A lot like bread baking. It makes sense, since so many of the components are the same.
