Health Stuff

I want to record some health issues I have been having.

In late January I noticed I was having headaches when I read. The symptoms limited my reading time which was a pain because I love to read in the winter. I first noticed it while we were traveling to Florida to visit my son and mother. I brought a new pair of reading glasses so I blamed them for the issue. I picked up a couple pair while down there and borrowed my mothers’ but there was no change. The headaches continued after we returned. I noticed them while doing crosswords online in addition to reading. I called my doctor and we thought it might be eye related. The ophthalmologist said that was unlikely. (I have an appointment with them for later in the year).  My son mentioned that it could be muscle tension and this seemed to make sense. I declined having a bunch of tests done and worked on relaxing and stretching.  Eventually, I noticed that they were gone. This was about a month later.

Around the end of February I started waking up with severe night sweats. My shirt would be soaked! I would have to get up and change. The sheets would also be damp but not enough to require any action. These would occur weekly or so. I would have other nights where I would sweat but not severe. Diane kidded me that it was male menopause.  Occurring with these would be some mild achiness.  I started noticing the aches during the day and I wouldn’t feel like doing much except resting and reading.  These symptoms would vary from day to day.  Some days I didn’t notice anything and other days I would feel achy and chilled.  In late April I called my doctor. She asked about tick bites. I spend a lot of time in the woods but have not been bitten in a couple of years. Even then I caught the bugger before he was engorged so I don’t think that is it.

The symptoms have evolved now to where my hips and knees really hurt in the morning. The ache doesn’t really go away but is less bothersome if I move around such as some yoga or walking.  Three months ago I could squat all the way to the floor with no pain. Now I can’t. I can get into the squat position only if I go slow and use my hands for support.

I fear that there is something seriously  wrong but can’t figure it out.

I stopped taking my statin last week but after eight days I still have the problem.  I’ll see if the doctor has any insight.

Namaste
