Grounding at Home then Heading to Indiana
Up at 5:00am. Went to bed at 9:30 and took a pill. I can see why people can get hooked to sleeping pills. Regularly I am a very sound sleeper – perhaps slightly less than when I was younger. I lay down and I’m out within 5 minutes. The difference for me when I have jet lag is that I’ll sleep for a few hours then wake up and not be able to go back to sleep. It’s kinda like an afternoon nap. With these pills I stay asleep for the whole night. It doesn’t seem to speed the adjustment back to my time zone, it just makes is more pleasant. It will still be a week before I’m back on schedule.
Poured myself a coffee and sat on the back porch. It was still pitch black. The noise from the highway was a bit annoying but I tuned it out. The birds started shortly after that. The sky was starting to get lighter but still long before sunrise. A critter jumped up onto our deck and walked to within 7 feet of me looking for peanuts or corn. Pretty sure it was a raccoon because of the shape. I spoke to it and told it to go away. Two of the cats were on the porch and I didn’t want a fight. (They just basically ignored him). He turned and left. He didn’t waddle like a raccoon so he was either a slim one or possible a possum? I’ll have to look that up. I’ve seen a possum out back before but never a raccoon.
I took the day off to relax before our trip to Indiana. Our good friends, Randy and Kelly are "marrying off" their daughter, Lindsey tomorrow. Wow! I can’t believe how she’s grown. I remember her when she was 3 or 4 years old living on the islands in Vermont. She would play her little record player and dance around. She was a really bright kid with bright reddish hair. (Takes after her mom who is good at anything she tries and also has red hair – but much less now since the chemo).
Got an e-mail from Randy asking me to bring the Alison Kraus CD that Kelly likes so much. I like it too. Now that it’s ripped to my PC I can make a copy anytime I want. So, I’ll listen to it on the way over in the car and leave it with them.
Were staying at a little place Nichole calls "The Bates Motel". It’s an old 1950’s drive up motel that’s been kept up just slightly. It’s cheap and clean. The owners are real nice so it will be fun.
We’ll leave here right after lunch and pick up Justin and Nichole (I almost called them "the kids".They get off class at 2:30 so we’ll leave Columbus at about 3 and should arrive there about 8 with a dinner stop. Randy and Kelly are tied up with a dinner but we might get to see them after 9.
I was feeling a little stressed out – needed some time at home to get grounded. Now that I have had the morning to relax, I’m really looking forward to the weekend trip.
Namaste
RYN: NO, I still have the vertigo but it is slowly subsiding and, at the moment, is only when I get up from or go to bed.

Sleeping pills don’t help me sleep through the night, but when I wake up, they do help me go back to sleep pretty quickly. Have a great trip.

Sounds like a fun weekend full of good people. Who has the chemo? Mom or daughter? Glad you’re getting back to ground at home on American’s north coast. Love to all. Oh, Diane’s box to Patricia arrived an hour ago. She’ll open it on Tuesday, the 15th.
