A Pirtate Looks at 50

I think that the Jimmy Buffet quote. Anyone reading this may notice that the age under my profile just changed and now reflects "the beg 50".  Diane and I celebrated modestly at home. I told my boss I was taking a 1/4 day to go for a bike ride. (temp was 78 and sunny here). He told me to just go and don’t worry about it. So, I did. It was nice but only went for an hour. Had a flat I had to change.

Got cards from my good friends Randy and Kelly and also one from Laura (colleague from Vermont). She also sent me a nice T-shirt of a guy playing guitar and his dog. Of course Diane gave me a card along with a pile of presents. Mostly clothes.  Randy gave me a call last weekend and it was great to hear from him. He is interested in joining me for part of my hike on The Long Trail.. I also got calls from my friend Mike and son Justin.  Didn’t hear from any of my siblings or my parents. Our family is so big – Diane says we’re like a litter of puppies. It’s hard to remember and keep in touch with them all so you tend to not keep in touch as much as you should. – Of course it’s only the 28th so I still may hear from some of them. I’ll be heading home for my niece’s wedding in 1 1/2 weeks.

I may write more later but I’m on my lunch break.

Namaste

Feliz Cumpleanos! RYN: I actually do align with the philosophy of Dr.Weil. I am studying a form of healthcare that cares for the body while recognizing its wisdom of caring for itself – with an understanding that Western medicine can help in cases of certain illness like cancer. Aging becomes a part of the body wisdom. We have a time to live and then we make room for others (or ourselves if youbelieve in reincarnation :))Aging is our way of slowing us down so that we contemplate the other aspects of life. Although, for some of us, that slowing happens very slowly – I am an avid bicyclist, too.
