oh, money…
I’m making some smart financial decisions. But first I had to make a stupid one. But it’s mostly cancelling itself out with a smart decision. So really, we’re all good.
Smart financial decisions:
- All superfluous bills have been eradicated except for Netflix, and that will be eradicated once I mail back the movie I’ve currently got out.
- Phone plan will be replaced with one that’s better and cheaper; this will happen in five days when my current contract is up.
- Keeping in mind that adding Justin to the lease means that rent, energy, and Internet gets cut from 1/2 split evenly to 1/3 split evenly.
Okay, that last one isn’t a financial decision. It’s a sanity decision that involves reminding myself that my finances will be better after he moves in. Anyway, moving on.
Stupid decision:
- In order to replace my current phone plan with one that’s better and cheaper, I have to buy a new phone. My current phone isn’t compatible with the new plan because the new plan is with a different company. I’ve already bought the phone. It was on sale, but it cost me maybe $175 anyway.
Smart decision that will mostly cancel out stupid decision:
- Selling my old phone to Amanda Black for at least $100; hopefully more like $150; $175 if I’m REALLY lucky (she got her tax return and it was apparently quite decently sized so hopefully she will be able to afford that).
Fingers crossed it all works out? That’s me asking you guys to cross your fingers for me. And before you argue that this was an excuse for me to upgrade my phone (let’s face it, those who know me know that I love shiny new high tech gadgets), this phone is a step down. There was a more expensive one that would have been a step up, but I went with this one. I don’t want to give up my current phone. I DON’T WANT TO GIVE IT UP!!! I’ve come to love it…two years with her has been quite a nice time. =( I’m going to miss my smexy baby. But she costs me almost $100 a month and when I spend months worried about costs, that’s too much.
Way too much.
I don’t want to sell her; I’d love to keep her around just to pull her out and look at her, and use her maybe occasionally on wi-fi, but if I have the ability to replace the costs of this new phone…I will go for it. *sighs*.
Gonna miss Netflix. Gonna miss Spotify on my phone – I tried it out when they offered a free trial version as a holiday gift in December and I’ve become fond of it. I’ve been planning to get OD Plus again for a while, but now never mind. Gonna miss my phone too. I almost got the more expensive one =P But there’s no point in reducing costs if I’m going to spend more money to replace my phone. Just not worth it.
How’s everyone else doing?

Good luck with the phone sale 🙂 xxx
