I am ahead of Will.

I got home last night and didn’t write for a bit, then Will came on and informed me that he was a thousand away from 50k and I decided that since he was so far ahead of me, it wouldn’t matter if I wrote that last 10k before the night was over. So I let myself fall out of the mood for writing.

Finally convinced him to tell me what his word count was exactly (since I wanted to know just how far he was from 50k) by promising to give him my word count in return.

He says: 49,363

I say: Ah. Okay. 40,769. I couldn’t write much because…(insert the things distracting me here)

He says: …I’m a bad ninja.

I say: What do you mean?

He says: Look at my NaNo status. That’s my word count.

I say: …You’re still at 38k?

He says: Yes. Three days of not writing because of Jael and being sick have taken their toll. You are ahead of me.

So the bastard tricked me into giving up my Secret Ninja Plans!!! But, at least I’m in the lead, and I’m going to write more today and try to get closer to the 50k goal. He and I are aiming for 100k, which means that we’re actually BOTH behind on our goals. All of my friends are complaining about how they’re below the par line and all that crap, and how they hate me for my word count…yeah. I only look like I’m doing well because I’m using the 50k graph. If I were using a 100k graph, it would be obvious that I"m doing terribly.

Well, actually I’m only about 3k below the par line right now. But still.

Anyway, I’m off to do more writing. My laundry is in and I should really use this time to advance my word count.
