Tonight, I am making chilli chips with greek yoghurt dip, prosciutto pizza and serving chocolate bombes for dessert, with a splash of Chianti to wash it down. Nom nom nom. No turkey for me. Sometimes I feel sad it’s only America that does Thanksgiving, it’s a nice little holiday, and I love holidays that involve roast dinners.
Though, if I had to pick one holiday to be international, it would have to be Guy Fawkes night. It was rubbish sitting here in Belgium watching people’s Facebook statuses say they were going to various bonfire nights. I love the fact that we celebrate the attempt to blow up parliament, I love the big bonfires, the fireworks, the black treacle toffees and sparklers. I love walking through town smelling gunpowder in the air, a layer of fog/smoke setting in as the evening gets darker. I love getting wrapped up warm to go and stand outside with friends to gaze at the sky and watch colourful explosions.
But, at least it’s Christmas soon, another fun holiday. I think I’m one of the few people that doesn’t mind shops putting Christmas stuff up early, as the build up is half of the fun. I read once that the brain actually feels reward during the build up of an exciting event rather than during the actual event. Like when you’re going on holiday, the weeks before hand when you look forward to it are actually the times when your brain is stimulated in the "reward" centre.
An interesting fact, for sure.

FYI: I read that on cracked too!
