Aww yeah, get me, remembering something simple TWO WHOLE DAYS IN A ROW!
Thought I’d update quickly from work in case I forget/don’t have time tonight. Today at work is quite dull. I’ve been given the sad task of organising our magazine library, which is a complete mess. I’ve just about finished it, after like THREE DAYS OF WORK ON IT. I’ve put everythiing in order and neatly. People just laugh at me when I tell them this though, they’re like "Ohhhh ho ho, you just know they’re gonna get messed up again real fast!"
And I always think "Fuck you." back. Because, the people who say this are the people who use this library. The only way they know it’s gonna get messed up again is if they never treated the library well before. So what they’re saying basically translates as: "Ohhhhh ho ho, I am shit at keeping things tidy, and the fact that I’ve just watched you slave over this organising malarky for three days doesn’t mean I’m gonna change my ways one bit. Ha HA! I will in future mess up all this work you’ve done!"
Thing is, I’m obviously proud of the nice job I’ve done, and I don’t want people to mess it up, but I’m also not the library police. Just cause I sorted it, does not mean I am now in charge of making people keep it this way. People should just respect their work environments, or just surroundings in general. It’s like when people just decide to dump something out of their shopping cart in a random aisle cause they don’t want it anymore. They give no thought to that fact that someone will have to tidy that away for them, or that they’re messing up the store.
Meh, I don’t like people that do that. Once or twice I’ve done it myself, and I have no excuse that’s more valid than any other person who does it. But I do my best to not be lazy and dump things all over the place just to let others clean it up.
I guess what I’m getting at is this mentality I notice a lot of people I work with have. It’s just this quite lazy, snobby attitude to things. They refuse to take public transport because they’re used to putting taxi bills on company expenses. They refuse to stay in a cheap travel inn or motel because they’ve become accustomed to fancy business hotels.
I completely get how these people got to be like this, but I suppose I’m just really hoping that I don’t end up this way. A cushy lifestyle for too long can make you into a bit of an asshole, and I don’t want to be snobby about things that are perfectly fine. I’m still half in poor-student-mode, where whenever there’s free food, you eat lots so you don’t have to buy dinner later on, or where you buy the cheapest shittiest clothes because you need to wear SOMETHING outside, or scraping change together for the bus/tram as a treat instead of walking home like usual.
I like appreciating what I’ve got, and I worry that if I live this lifestyle for years, maybe I won’t appreciate things like this anymore. I’ll just get used to it, and take it for granted. Even this worry/realisation still doesn’t convince me it won’t come true.
Ah well, if I ever start getting snobby about something completely stupid, tell me.
PEACE YO.
Lol no you dork! We were kidding.

Surely the fact that you tidied it means you are the boss of it now. Kick them all in their rude faces if they mess it up again. You are entitled, I reckon.

FYI You’re being snobby about your co-workers snobbiness
