Party

 

I’ve been soooooooooooooooooooo busy.


My party was this afternoon. I invited almost a dozen of my best friends from the local area, and they all came. These are the type of people who think like I do, enjoy the same foods I do, and yield to the same temptations I do.


We spent the early part of the afternoon working together getting things ready. After that, it was all fun and games. I got the camera out to take a group picture, but because I refuse to pose people, I just had to struggle to get them all in the picture. Here’s the best one:

I’m well aware that Ottoman Empire subjects at the outbreak of World War I attacked a trainload of people near Broken Hill. Deplorable. I think it is drawing a long bow to connect their actions to Muslim extremists in the current day, except that their actions are equally deplorable. Just like drones killing civilians, pre-emptive strikes, dropping cluter bombs where children can be mainmed by them, land mines in Laos, etc etc. Deplorable, all of it, and in no measure different, in my eyes. None of this would, in my opinion, excuse prejudice against someone who wears outward signs of their religious or cultural beliefs.

RYN: see, I suppose it’s from having Irish Catholic ancestors and also Jewish ones, as well as working class of course. All these groups in different historical times were labelled, assumed t be “out-breeding” “us”, whever “us” are at the time, and generally plotting the downfall of “Us”.
