Drought

There’s been a lot of drought in my life these past months. The rain has been scarce, my ability to write has been absent, human interaction has been minimal, internet advertizing has gone out of control, and B didn’t have a chance to visit me this summer. B and I have recently started making plans for me to visit her again in OZ in November. Perhaps that has put me in a better mood.

Being a hermit is a mood of its own. I can do whatever I want; every day, every hour, and every second. I haven’t held back a fart or belch in months. How healthy can that be? I can really let one rip in the middle of the night, something which I don’t think I would let another living entity hear. Scratch what itches. Scrape what protrudes. Pick what has boogers. Rub what irritates. Some days I wonder if I’m turning into an animal.

There’s more to it than bodily functions. Never shutting the bathroom door, eating whatever tickles my fancy, never locking the front door, wearing the same clothes day after day (or none at all), sleeping anywhere at any time, letting hygiene slip when I’m rushed, flying off on tangents, changing my mind on a dime, letting dust accumulate, not shaving with any regularity, and on and on. Is this the way everyone should want to live? “Do it this way” is too often the mantra of business.

There is a lot of hopelessness out there right now, too. With global warming, blatantly corrupt government, the obesity epidemic, and general malaise and insanity among the general population; I hardly feel comfortable in public. I find myself spending more and more time in the furthest and deepest part of my woods. I call it my “Wayback”. Now is a good time to watch what’s going on and create more options for the future. The focus of my efforts these past months has been on creating more independence in the form of self-sufficiency. I can’t envision an old fart like me being on anyone’s list of “Those Worth Saving”. It’s interesting that every major growing religion’s god keeps one of these lists. I’ve also been working on making my home more friendly towards the feeble, something I need to do now before I am feeble, which everything suggests I will someday be. Incredible.

I really do have so much for show and tell.

So I’ll talk about the weather. This is the worst drought I’ve ever lived through, as the extreme heat completely replaced the rain. All my fruit trees lost their blossoms in a late frost. Trying to garden in this drought was like owning a dog: You have to take care of it every day and it never grows up. I’ve had some successes and learned a lot, though. The water totes I installed last year to catch rain water came in handy this summer (I knew it was coming). The drought is still happening right now. Nobody seems to care because the growing season is over. It is nice to have this long, colorful Indian summer. Usually, an early, windy storm with drenching rain knocks all the leaves off prematurely.

I still think Bush was the worst president ever, but Obama might get another four years to win the title. The best thing I could do in the voting booth is to disable it.

It is good to hear from my noters again. Thank you for waiting to put up with more from me. Here’s a picture of me in 3D. Just cross your eyes until the two middle pictures meet.   Check out the background.

Life has more droughts than rains – I guess it is all about making the most of each time and enjoying being in the moment. The older I become the more I am drawn to being a ‘hermit’. Too much BS in this world we live in. Glad you are back writing. Best wishes, A

I’m sure the upcoming trip when you and B will be reunited has lifted your spirits. Any long term plans to live together all year around? Oh, and you are worth waiting for 😉

I used to be able to cross my eyes, but I’ve lost that ability, so I didn’t make the 2 pictures come together. I think everyone needs to become a bit more self sufficient.

When I crossed my eyes, I got 4 pictures of Udder, then it finally settled into 3 pictures. The two never did become one. LOL! Ahh – it’s your home. Let it all hang out.
