Deep green

I guess Wisconsin is on the right latitude this summer. We’ve been getting the right amount of rain just when we need it. I’ve been watering regularly, too. I took a walk with my camera this morning:

There is always so much to do. I abhor those things that are routine, repetitive, or maintaining so much that I’ll do extra work to eliminate them.

The garden is doing well. I’m getting my fill of beans, cucumbers, and greens right now. I actually canned some pickles (refrigerated). Did you know that using iodized and/or coated salt can discolor canned vegetables? Is it silly to imagine our organs being discolored?

B is coming for a visit in a month… for two months! I can instantly see all the things I need and want to do before then.

I haven’t turned my AC on this summer. Putting the unit in and out of the window is too repetitive. I’m working on circulating my cool spring water into the house. Take that, oil world!

I want to take B on a canoe trip on Lake Superior.

I read that Obama visited Pakistan in 1981 when he was 20. U.S. Citizens weren’t allowed to travel there at that time.

Weatherwise, it is just too nice right now to be anywhere else.

I can’t believe all this will be dead or dormant in three short months.

…but everything will be reds, oranges, and yellows in two months.

It’s blackberry season, too. I’ve been going out every other morning to pick them (freezing most of them). When you consider how much they cost in the stores, I can’t afford not to.

It always gets easier. I have all the time in the world. 😉

In answer to your question. Rifles and antique guns, do not need to be registered. They can still shoot and they can still protect us. What needs to be registered are concealable handguns. Those guns that are very easily concealable that can be carried out in public. Though a rifle can be concealed-in cases, it is not as easy to hide a rifle as it is easy to hide a S & W 45 . That isall that is needed, not an over-control for no reason but a control, licensing and registration. You can have as many rifles as you like -unregistered. I remember years and years ago you didn’t need to register these or license. I’m not sure what the procedure is now in any of the states.

Having all the time in the world-awesome. We all do but some do not realize it.

are you enjoying your holiday?

While this proves nothing, there is an answer on the INternet to the question about Obama’s passport when he was 20 – http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/passport.asp . It is an interesting thing to those of us from other lands to see how the level of disquiet that arises when the subject of dual citizenship (not that I’m saying your President has/had/should have/should not have it) comes up. It’s kind of like not letting children learn about other religions in school than the dominant one – what’s the harm? Is the idea of non_USA nationality so inherently corrupting? It just puzzles me. Re: you home – what a lovely place you have created, and I’d love to visit there. Enjoy B’s visit.
