The Intro to the Band Page.

The band name “Elysium” was put to paper many years ago, however with the rise of the new sound emerging from a stale industry, many new age metal bands assumed the name as their own in one way or another. Regardless of associated bands around the world claiming the Elysium title, or even a knowledge of the name ever being used, the founders Ben; aka “Sonic” and Andrew knew the meaning of the word and the similarity it had to the way they chose to deliver the melodic style.

Back around 2005, the boys began mucking around with various riffs learned from influential bands such as “Tool”, “Metalica” and “Pantera”. As all musicians do, they changed the riffs and compositions as they progressed, to accumulate a new style that fast left behind the grass roots that established them as real talent. The result is a sound that is destintively theirs alone. Since the music style that had driven them from the very beginning evolved from so many influences, the boys chose to incorporate that into the final naming of the band. “Elysium Influences” has seen a rise from four members to the fall of the original two. Left un-named, the bands drummer and lead guitarist moved on early 2009 leaving behind the difficult task of re-recuiting. Though many bands have crumbled in this same situation, Sonic and Andrew grew stronger, honing their sound and style which evolved once again, this time into a dynamic, ever changing list of “story line” tracks that seem to link and explode into a climax that holds your attention to the end.

Shortly after the departing of the two members, the boys happened upon an enthusiastic singer-songwritter from the Gold Coast. Luke “Spooky” McCoy moved from Queensland in mid 2006 to the Australian capital of Canberra, leaving behind an accumulated experiance of work with four bands. Though not actively searching for a new band to call “home”, he continued writing for himself and the new outfit of his previous drummer Terry “Tez” Walker known as “The Teddybear Assassins”. His experiance as the frontman with the well known Brisbane band “Darkshot” injected him a love for the hard paced style of dark metal and the feel of the live stage. His lyrics brought a dark yet new angle to the bands’ ever growing list of tracks which up to that point consisted of strings only.

Life is a learning curve that “Elysium Influences” has learned to listen to, and until further notice, are searching for the drummer who craves what they do, to produce a sound that holds it’s listener to the end, longing for what comes next…………..
