Vietnam Fun Facts

I have many interesting fun facts from things I have read or experienced about Vietnam…I hope you like them..

  • There are 192 countries on planet Earth; Vietnam is the 14 largest ( population).
  • Beer and whiskey are served warm( sadly).
  • Women are chaste ( very sadly).
  • The Vietnamese learned the art of wine making from our American second cousins:  The French…only the viet make it from rice…not grapes.
  • Local beer sucks; pay extra and order an import.
  • Rice wine from Viet will knock you on your ass; expect a hangover.
  • French wine will leave you feeling horny…expect a hangover, empty wallet, and no satisfaction.
  • Tea has a social importance seldom appreciated by westerners.  HUH?!  I am a Yank by birth.  While I was a coffee drinker for most of my adult life, I would choose no caffeine over no tea at this point.  When I ask for tea in Asia, I am offered Green Tea or Lipton.  Where did this cultural idea come from??
  • Police:  Viet coppers are the best that money can buy.
  • Currency:  The currency is The Dong; the one the women close to you would appreciate is called ‘The Golden Dong’.
  • ATM’s:  Forget about it.  Bring 1500US with you, and don’t worry about the ATM’s.  Too much trouble.  I will give a break down of expenditures soon in case you want to visit this county…it’s totally cheap, if you are intersted…

I must interrupt at the moment and talk about the humble traits of the Chinese b-ball player called Youu Ming and Shaw O’niel.  i am currently watching a historical movie about the two.  I am totally let down by O’niel.   GUESS WHAT?!   YOU’RE NOT IRISH!  i just dont know why he (O’niel) would act like such a bitch about a Chinese star entering into the arena…but that is something I will write about on a different day…pathetic…Mr. O’niel,  Ming did good.  Your personality was pathetic.

Onto more fun facts:

  • In order to drive a car in Vietnam, you need a domestic  driver’s license.  HUH????  What do the locals do?!  Do they suddenly shit a license and domestic license?  Let me be a part of THAT society, and  I’ll be president within a month
  • my friend asked me, " Should I receive Hepp A Vaccination?
  • My response:  Viet Nam?  Deep Vein Thrombosis, Motion Sickness, Jet Lag, Dengue, Filariasis, Hepp A,  Hepp B, Hepp E, HIV, Influenza, Japanese B Encephalitis, Malaria, Measles, Rabies, Schistosomiasis, Sars, STD, Tuberculosis, Thphoid, Typhus, Diarrhoea, Amoebic dysentery, Giardiasis, and so on…
  • can i ask the same question?  Do you think you should receive ANY vaccincation??!!

I’m finished writing now.  I’ll probably write in a couple of days.  I hope all of you are well.  Will write soon.

Hi! A fave pointed me in your direction. I’m a DOD contractor with a software company, and I just found out there’s a huge possibility I’ll be working in Iraq at Camp Victory for a few months. I’m glad he gave me your name. You’re quite an interesting read. 🙂

You are very bright. I read an entry in which the writer told us how bright he was. You show us. (I typed ‘snow’ first – of course I do find myself near the end – it is to be hoped – of a long midwest winter)
