Weather the weather..
..whether you like it or not.
Definitely a lesson for me to remember during the sweltering days of summer, that’s for sure.
It’s been getting colder each week. I can’t believe we’re in November already. I think we’re actually expecting some snow tomorrow. Nothing cumulative, but still, it’s snow, people!
I find it weird, yet, facinating how our friends in Oz are entering their Summer while we’re over here battening down the hatches to prepare for a cold winter. Oh, I know there’s several states over here that don’t experience the snow and cold as much as we do up here by the Great Lakes and north, but, it’s still winter for them and considering how they’re used to the heat, what I would call warm they probably would call cold. I know my Aunts and Uncles in Texas think it’s really cold when the temps are in the 50’s F’. To me, it’s the perfect Autumn temp. – especially for sleeping in.
The weird part for me is realizing that all of you who are now entering the summer months, equate November, December and January as Summertime. It’s just hard for me to wrap my mind around, especially when considering Christmas. For me, the cold temperatures, the coats and boots, a roaring fire in the fireplace, the fogged up windows framed in ice crystals, Nativity scenes and Christmas lights glowing through the snow covered bushes and trees, creates the whole ambiance of the Christmas season. If I were to ever travel "down under" during that time, or any place warm and summery, I think that I would feel a certain sense of loss. Not that it would diminish the meaning of Christmas to me, but, just the mood.
I’m curious to know. If you live in Oz or another part of the world where Christmas falls during your Summer, what are some of the things you equate with the Christmas Season??
My friends went on a Christmas Cruise around New Zealand, Australia and the like. It looked so weird to see people in bikinis and Santa hats in their pictures. lol And see your cold for me is chilly day, it’s weird how the definition of cold is so different for everyone. My friends girlfriend is moving to Canada from Indiana, she’s going to have a CRAZY change from her normal cold.
