Dead…

 …Tired!

It hasn’t happened in quite a while, which I’m very thankful for, BUT, it happened last night.  I went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 12:30 and couldn’t go back to sleep to save my life!!

Was it a full moon last night?

I don’t know.  All I know is that, now that the hubby has been dropped off at work, I can get away with going back to bed.

Oh, by the way, Hubby has finally decided he’s ready to file for Disability.

In the first couple of weeks of December, before going on vacation, he fell a total of three times.  His weakness and balance is getting worse even though he hasn’t suffered a relapse since last June.  With shipping season coming up in March, he doesn’t think he’s going to be able to do it.

He’s worried sick that Disability Income won’t bring in enough to support us or keep our house.  I try to reassure him but I don’t know anything either.  I’m just counting on faith at the moment.  Neither one of us know how the whole process works.  One person told us we need a lawyer, one person told us to just apply online and another person said we should make an appointment with a Social Security agent.  I don’t know what the heck to do and right now I’m just way too darn tired to think.

Dang it, after saying all that, it makes me feel really guilty about going back to bed while my husband is struggling at work!!  It’s not fair.

But if I don’t, I’ll be completely worthless to him when he comes home.

I’ll write more later once my brain’s defoggers are working.

Have a good morning and don’t forget to thank God for another day.  🙂

I’ll pray for the both of you, this sounds hard. I think you should see the social security agent first to get an understanding of the process and then contact a lawyer. Disability claims rarely get approved the first go round unless a lawyer’s involved, and I don’t want you to have your benefits delayed. I hope you get some rest this morning.

Go directly to the Social Security office and apply. You won’t, contrary to what they will tell you, need a lawyer, unless you are rejected. No sense paying a lawyer unless you really need him, eh? You will need medical assessments and diagnostic info. Be well, my friend.

I don’t believe husband can be working at all when he files.

I have no answers, so I will be praying to the One who is and does.

Disability seems to be a full time desk job. Good luck and get whatever rest you need when you can.

🙁 I hope it works out for him. You’re a good wife.

I would hope that his MS diagnosis and the fact that he has been working all this time despite his health issues should help. I would do what Greywolf Borealis says, only I’d call ahead of time and ask what documents they would need…I needed my doctor to fill out my application before I could apply….but I live in Canada so it may be different here.

I personally recommend a lawyer or one of those disability supporting groups. I went with one, they got it approved on their first try. My own failed, and most people that do it themselves will fail the first or second time. I went with Allsup. Very quick service. By law they are only allowed if you collect and I think 20% lump sum. That’s the max allowed. And get started asap. SSDI goes from the first day applied.

I will pray for you. Can you work? I am not sure if you are able. I guess there could be some big changes in your life.
