Wow, 1TB really is a lot of space!

Yeah, I got my eSATA hard drive in today and got it hooked up. It increased the storage capacity on the TiVo by eight-fold. I’m glad I didn’t get the 2TB expander "just in case" like I had considered, it would have been a huge waste of money. I mean seriously, I’m single, am I ever going to have 160 hours of HD programing saved at any point in time? And it’ll record 1440 hours of SD programming on the lowest quality setting. Good grief.

I’m watching The Final Report episode L.A. Riots. It’s pretty good. It’s about the Rodney King riots, not the Watts riots. OK, that is so wrong, do we have to start naming our riots?

Had a good week on overnights. My folks did a good job for me, some of them actually thanked me for being on overnights with them. They really don’t like Twiggy and Strange Boy. I think Facility Manager and the two senior managers were killing two birds with one stone this past week: covering a vacation and seeing if the overnighters would perform the same way for a "substitute teacher". I may have caused more trouble for Twiggy and Strange Boy, but they are obviously a large part of the problem when it comes to the lack of performance by the overnight stockers.

Strange Boy claims it is impossible to get done if the freight is not completely unloaded and sorted when he gets there two hours before the stockers. I did it twice, both nights I had between four and six thousand pieces. He can’t do it with two or three thousand in that situation. Twiggy is constantly telling people she is going to write them up or fire them if they do not get done on time, yet they don’t and she doesn’t. I just told them to get done, we had plenty of time and I expected them to do it. They did.

I also used my stockers as stockers and not pickers. I have pickers that get paid an extra dollar an hour than the stockers, so they need to do their job and get it done and not tie up countless stocker (and management) man hours having someone else do their job. One of them came to me with a handheld at the start of my first shift and offered it to me. I asked her what I would need that for and she told me that it was so I could help her pick. I told her I was paying her to pick, and if she couldn’t do it I’d find someone that could. Just a no-nonsense conversational tone, no yelling or anything. Her face went white and she sputtered for a bit and then ran off to the racks. She got done. All three nights. Alone. Good for her.

Gonna go now, not sure how much longer I’ll be able to stay up even though I did have a six-hour nap after I got home.
