What part of “can’t be changed” does he not understand?
Well, my schedule got changed after it was posted, not sure if I mentioned that last time. So not only did I have to miss a meeting with a contractor I’d waited nearly a month for, I had to work four days in a row and I’m just not used to that, especially coming out of the weekend. I know, you’re probably going “boo hoo, had to work four days in a row! so sad!” and I know it kind of comes across that way, but there’s a reason for my schedule being the way it is.
I was out last year for four months on a mental health leave of absence, and since I was having a massive depressive episode there a couple of times I didn’t get out of bed, much less leave the house, for days at a time and physically I de-conditioned and when I finally returned to work I was unable to work a full eight hour shift and working more than three days in a row was just out of the question. It took three months to work my way back up to a full shift, I’m in a deeply unhealthy state right now, physically. I’m working on it, but it’s taking a lot longer than I thought it would.
Anyway, I gave my manager three chances to fix the screw up, and after having to come in and work the extra day I spoke to the facility manager. He understood, and didn’t know my manager had been changing posted schedules, which is technically allowed but only under dire circumstances. There were no dire circumstances. I mentioned the contractor meeting but told him I got lucky and the contractor was able to do the walk-around without me and I’ll still be able to get my quote. Speaking of the contractor, he’s supposed to be repairing some damage to the soffit and fascia of the house. I was going to have all that done next year when I hope to be back into a higher paying job but my insurance sent underwriters out on inspection tours and they gave me a list of crap that has to get done right now or they’ll drop my policy. I’ve already got the roof replaced, the gutters cleaned out, and a ginormous bush trimmed back from the house and all I’ve got left is the soffit repairs and tidying up my side porch.
Still getting back into the swing of this, this probably should have been at least two entries over the past seven days.
