Warp Core Breach!

Well, sort of.

The truck died, it blew a spark plug right out of the cylinder head, taking a part of the head with it, and it was going to take far more than the truck was worth to fix it. The head alone was $1000 and that didn’t include the bolts, gasket, labor, etc. Add to that the fact that they’d have to pull the engine out of the truck to even get the head replaced and I decided to stick a fork in it.

So, after a quick call to my sister leads to my dad taking over the whole situation I’m now driving a brand new (it had 35 miles on it) 2012 Ford Focus. It’s the base model but it’ll work for me. It gets about twice the mileage the truck did. Oh, and it’s a five speed. I’m having to re-learn how to corner smoothly and how to back out of a downhill parking space without hitting the car in front of me. I’m also having to learn to shift before I want to – the car is much happier (and more fuel efficient) below 2000 RPM. Oh, and I can’t see worth a damn compared to the Expedition, so I’ll have to get used to that too.

Getting really irritated at a friend and former co-worker. It’s Misty actually. Ever since she had her second child she’s turned into a total busy-body child care activist treating everyone else like they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Oh, and even though she vowed not to become one she is also a lacto-nazi, declaring anyone who can’t or won’t breast feed a child abuser. I mentioned on Facebook that I was washing the cover to the car seat before I donated it because it was time to move up to a high back booster for K. She chimed in with "I don’t know how old the child in question is but the recommendation now is to leave them rear-facing up to two years old." Yeah, that’s right, YOU DON’T KNOW! I’m seriously considering deleting and blocking her so I don’t have to listen to it anymore. I’ve already "hidden" her posts from my news feed, but if she’s going to start being a busy-body in comments then I might just kick her off altogether.

She knows me, and should know me well enough to know that I’m going to be extra careful and do my research when it comes to stuff like this, and she knows I’ve been watching K for at least four years, so she’s GOT TO BE older than two. Duh.
