The Wedding and the Airport
Ok, apparently the pre-wedding reception was at the bride’s uncle’s house, and not her parents’ house, I’ll get that edit done on the other entry later. The wedding was nice and the ceremony was blissfully short. The director of the small college they met at officiated. I’m glad I did bring my suit after all, probably 90% of the men were wearing them. I’m at a loss to explain why, since he’s been travelling since before I was born and this is the first time I’ve travelled with a suit, that my father’s suit looked like he’d slept in it and mine was wrinkle-free. Maybe it was made of linen or something (mine’s wool) and I hear it’s notorious for wrinkling but we were here for three days before the ceremony and he should have been able to do something about it.
The venue was spectacular. I don’t know what her parents do for a living but they are at the very least very comfortable. It’s the kind of place I’ve always wanted to raise a family in: big house, big yard, pool, detached garage, lots of privacy. To give you an idea there were easily two hundred people at the wedding and they had all the parking in the front yard and still had room left over after providing generous aisles between cars. It was nice. We left after toasts and speeches but before cake, we had to get up at zero dark freaking thirty to get to the airport in time. We’d both gotten e-mails from our respective airlines about delays at the TSA checkpoint but there weren’t any, so we probably could’ve slept another half-hour or so. Oh well.
I am so glad to be going home. Mostly so I can eat normal food again but also so I can decompress and process this thing with TreeSap and have a breakdown in the privacy of my own home if I’m gonna do it. I have to buy body wash on the way home. I changed my body wash for her because she liked the smell. Dang it.
Going to wrap this up now. I’m at the airport so not only is my screen not secure neither is the WiFi. Yes, OD has forced the https protocol, but on open WiFi I don’t want to push it.
