The Update

OK, now for the real update.

I’m still driving back and forth every day. It’s almost dead even on cost with gas vs. hotel, but the travel is wearing me out. Twelve hours a day I’m basically “at work” and it’s every day. I’ll look at hotels next week but the one some of my classmates are staying at is a fleabag and I just won’t do it, I’d rather wear out me and the truck.

The new prospective date is someone I met at the new store. She’s the department manager for, you guessed it, Toys, and this was her first inventory as a manager so I stayed with her most of the day Wednesday for that (she was really nervous) and then spent a good portion of the day yesterday helping her with the follow-up work. She had a really good inventory, by the way. I think I’ll be with her a couple of hours on Monday to show her some of the normal week-to-week stuff she never got trained on.

She has three kids, but they’re older. The oldest is fourteen and the youngest is eleven or twelve. She does smoke, normally a turn-off for me but she’s down to about one pack a week and she is trying to quit. She’s divorced (from the kids’ father) and has an almost boyfriend. He’s someone she’s sort of been seeing since the divorce ten years ago. She says they have a love/hate relationship; they love to hate each other. I figure there might be a little wiggle room for the ToyMan to get in there and ask her out to dinner. Since it’s late (it’s Saturday now) and I’m feeling a total lack of creativity, we’ll call her (drum roll) ToyLady. Not meaning that as a prediction or anything, it just follows from her job.

I have to work overnight Saturday into Sunday. I start at 2000 and end at 0800. Tack the two hours of driving onto each end of that and I’m going to be a very grumpy ToyMan when I get home Sunday morning.

Ember and I had a really good talk today. It wasn’t anything world changing, it was just one of those friend things you stumble into sometimes. I enjoyed it. We haven’t done that in a long time. She did make a crack about my age when she was walking across the street going home, and for that I shall have my revenge! Unless I forget or something.

Sammie is doing well last I heard, but he still hasn’t left for “A” school yet and he doesn’t know when his first leave will be. He’ll be able to put in for it in fourteen or so days but he doesn’t know when or if it will be granted. Not that I expect to see much of him when he’s home, I think Ember has plans for him.

Still broken up with Dirty Girl. It’s been about a week this time so it’s probably going to stick.

AmandaS may be moving in with me for a bit. She’s looking for a place to live over here again and she’s only got three or four weeks left to her where she is now.

I think that’s all I’ve got for now, except to say that I’ve been taking my frustrations out as the Chosen wielder of the Keyblade all week, so that explains the lack of entries. Kingdom Hearts II is SO addicting! I’ve already beaten it on the easy level and it only took thirty-nine hours. No, it wasn’t all at once; it was spread out over two weeks. It’s still a lot of PS2 time though. I really need to start walking again. Maybe I can get Ember out with me.

I have to find something to do so I can stay awake for the next six or so hours at least. Wish me luck!
