The Interview
Ok, it could have gone better, but she said I did very well, especially considering this was my first interview for a manager job since I got into the training program. They’ve changed the format some and all the managers at my level that want to transfer to any store get asked the same group of questions. If it’s like the hourly interviews I get to conduct, there’s a pool of something like twenty or thirty questions and the computer picks six or eight most relevant to the job being applied for, then everyone interviewing in that group gets asked the same questions. It’s supposed to make the process absolutely fair and incorruptible, but I think mostly it just confuses people.
The thing that concerns me however is after the interview, when I was expecting a job offer, she told me she had to go over the other interviews and she would be making a decision Monday or Tuesday, so if I was to be offered the position I should hear something by Wednesday. If I’m the only candidate what other interviews are there to go over? Maybe she’s just playing it close on this one so I don’t get all big headed but that’s also a very typical blow-off line from the company I used to work for, so I’m understandably worried about it. And I really don’t interview very well, you have to see me in action to get a feel for what I’m about. Add to that I have just started taking my ADHD meds again after being off them for five or six days and my answers were a bit disjointed. The information she wanted was in the answers, but I really think I could have phrased them better had I not just restarted the meds.
Oh, the reason I was off the Vyvanse was my pills ran out before my next scheduled appointment, and since it was so close I just went without. I figured there wasn’t any harm in it. Yeah, right. You can ask Ember, I’ve been the biggest ditz all week long. She said I was almost back to my old self again. Bloody hell.
you were just kinda spazzie, it was nice to have it back for just a moment, but i understand how much better you are not being spazzie…

She probably couldn’t make you an offer right there on the spot. Most companies don’t do that as they have all that red tape to go through. I spaz on interviews too, no matter how much I practice. I’m sure you did fine, don’t be so hard on yourself.

I do the same thing with my bipolar meds, thinking a week or so won’t make a difference. But then the first second I start to feel a little off, I freak out! I bet you did better than you think you did. We are all so hard on ourselves.
