That Wench

With a capital "B" of course…

Blondie, after being contacted at around 0900 this morning and instructed to pack a bag and get her butt up here before the snow closed any roads, waited until about 1300 to try to leave and by then it was allegedly too late. Accidents, black ice, trees down, cats sleeping with dogs, etc. So she won’t be coming in tonight. Which means I get to stay and pull her shift for her. Bitch.

Checked with Critter and the Georgia Patrol and there were no reports of all that silliness when we talked. Again: Bitch.

The good news is I am in a hotel room (Days Inn actually) that the store is paying for, but it’s the principal of the thing. I’ve got to work tonight, with probably most of my stockers calling in (assuming they were properly scheduled in the first place) and still get the freight turned and the store fronted and faced before the day shift people start calling in, I mean showing up. My Facility Manager, who apparently already thought I was one of his top two assistants, was raving about how this is the sort of thing that sticks in his head when it comes to evals, which are coming up soon fortunately. He said during our half-year self-evals that he knew I had been thrown into a lot of bad situations at the store since he’d been there, but I always did the absolute best I could, and often better than he expected, so I shouldn’t be so hard on myself about my performance. That was cool.

So anyway, Other Senior Manager and Facility Manager are probably roundly abusing Blondie in absentia over snacks in the office right now. BuckBuck #4 (Twiggy) is the only manager at my level left in the store right now. I kind of feel sorry for her, but she has some really good super-grade hourly managers to back her up, so she’ll be fine.

Waiting for the Benadryl to kick in so I can get some sleep. I’ve got to be back at 2100 EST and it’s almost 1500 now. I’m really glad I thought to pack my laptop and all its stuff.

I accidentally broke the capsule (which I thought they’d stopped making for OTC meds after the whole Tylenol thing) before I took it so I’m getting a little woozy ahead of schedule. I’ll update again tomorrow.
