Stupid Stupid End of the World Thing

OK, so there’s this thing in the History Channel right now that is SO STUPID!

The main people are a paramedic and his wife and teenage son. A pandemic hits, society crumbles. So what does the guy do? He packs everything up in the good old SUV and tries to leave, but the on-ramps are blocked with abandoned cars. So rather than moving over to an "off" ramp and using it to get onto the Interstate he drives along surface streets until he comes up on what looks like a National Guard road block. It isn’t until they point their rifles at him and his son says something that he realizes they aren’t really National Guard.

In the escape from the bogus N.G. folks (who weren’t chasing him for nearly as long as he was running from them) he flattens a tire on the truck. So rather than just putting on the spare THEY ABANDON THEIR ONLY TRANSPORTATION and set out on foot. Since they are in LA, the hop down into an arroyo and follow it to get out of the city. Good thing it didn’t freaking rain or anything.

Then, they have the opportunity to "acquire" more transportation, and they make sure to show disdain for the fact the the person who died so they could steal his car had a gun, wouldn’t want people getting any ideas about defending themselves after all.

At the very first opportunity they manage to lose the gun, and then, in their infinite wisdom, THEY DRIVE OUT INTO THE DESERT! What the hell? Soon after they drive out into the middle of the damn desert with only the water they have in their knapsacks they manage to lose their transportation (again) and all their supplies. And just imagine all the people watching this that don’t see anything wrong with what the main character(s) have done, bemoaning the bad luck that constantly befalls them.

Oh, now they’ve somehow managed to make it from the desert outside of LA all the way to a small town in Nevada, all with no transportation, water, or means of defense, and all in the space of a commercial break. Jesus.

LOL some of those end of the world shows are really out there. I liked a couple of the “world without people” but after the 4th one it got old and very repetitive.
